THE SECRET

THE SECRET THINGS Scripture: Deuteronomy 29:29 Topic: The Secret Things “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”                                                                                                                                     Deuteronomy 29:29 There are two hemispheres of spiritual things. One is secret, and the second is revealed:  “The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law”  ...

BARRIERS TO CATCHING THE ANOINTING

Scripture: Mark 6: 1-5 Topic: Barriers to catching the anointing Some people never seem to catch the anointing. They may be near anointed men of God, but they just never seem to tap into that glorious anointing. There are certain reasons why certain people never become anointed. When Jesus was on earth with us, He ministered under the power of the Holy Spirit. Somehow, there were some people who could not receive from Him. They are cut off from the anointing by what I call ‘human barriers’ to the anointing. “Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him.  And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands!  Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brot...

BE IMMOVABLE

Scripture: I Corinthians 15:58 Topic: Be Immovable “ Therefore my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” I Corinthians 15:58 In this scripture, Apostle Paul is encouraging us as believers to be strong and faithful in the things of God. The Lord desires that we remain faithful throughout our lives. “ Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful”. 1 Corinthians 4:2 To be immovable is to be resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering. It can also be defined as the character of staying the same for a long time and not changing quickly or unexpectedly. This is the character that Apostle Paul encourages all believers to possess. An unwavering conviction in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The scripture instructs that in the ‘work of the Lord’, remain the same for a long time and do not change quickly or unexpectedly. This, however, is not the character we see in modern-da...

THE SECRET OF SPIRITUAL HATRED

January 27, 2022 THE SECRET OF SPIRITUAL HATRED Scripture: Rev 2: 1-6 Topic: The secret of spiritual hatred   “  Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;   I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:   And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless, I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.   Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate .”  Revelation 2: 1-6 Ha...

STRENGTH

January 26, 2022 STRENGTH Scripture: 1 Samuel 30:6 Topic: Strength    “….. and David strengthened himself in the Lord.”  1 Samuel 30: 6   This verse tells us that King David, the man whom the bible describes  as a ‘man after God’s own heart,’ strengthened himself in the Lord his God in a season of great adversity and turmoil.    Worn out from the war, David returns to discover that the Amalekites had attacked their land and made their wives, sons and daughters’ part of the spoils of war. Instead of shouts of joy, the valiant men were faced with pain of the worst kind and devastation in the wake of their external victory.     “….. each one was bitter n spirit because of his sons and daughters.”  1 Samuel 30:6 His own men whom he had led to victory were blinded by their despair to the point of plotting to stone their leader. The scriptures tell us that at this moment of testing, David strengthened himself in the Lord.  ...

BIBLICAL DESCRIPTIONS OF BACKSLIDING

January 25, 2022 BIBLICAL DESCRIPTIONS OF BACKSLIDING   Scripture: Jeremiah 2:13 Topic: Biblical descriptions of backsliding   “….. they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, that can hold no water”  Jeremiah 2:13   When I was a medical student, I was sent on a working visit to Danfa, a Ghanaian village, for two weeks. Once, during a field trip, we came across another remote village that had no running water. Since the village had no running water, they had dug a large hole in the ground where water gathered;  often this water was dirty and brownish.    The people in the village bathed, defecated and urinated in it. At the same time they drank from it and used it to cook. This water obviously gave them various diseases and sicknesses.    In the Bible, backsliding people are likened to people who have access to clear running water, but exchange it for dirty smelly water- just like what I saw in the villag...

LOYALTY WILL COST YOU RELATIONSHIPS AND FRIENDSHIPS

January 24, 2022 LOYALTY WILL COST YOU RELATIONSHIPS AND FRIENDSHIPS     Scripture: James 4:4 Topic: Loyalty will cost you Relationships and Friendships   “…. whosever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”  James 4:4   Everything has a price. Education has a price. Even your salvation has a price. The bible says we are bought with a price. Loyalty also has a price.    To be loyal to someone means you cannot be loyal to everyone. Loyalty will cost you relationships and friendships. My loyalty to Christ has meant that I cannot maintain some of my old friendships.    I have some friends with whom I can no longer flow. The reason for this is my loyalty to the Lord. I find it amazing that some Christians claim that they are simply friends with a rebellious person.    They say, “oh, he’s is just a colleague from school.”   I’ll ask, “Are you sure?”    They answer, “Oh yes, it’s just an old friendship...

TURNING THE HEARTS

TURNING THE HEARTS Scripture: Malachi 4:6 Topic: Turning The Hearts "And he shall turn the heart  of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to  their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a  curse." Malachi 4:6 There is a time when sons are not interested in what their fathers do. These sons are interested in the exact opposite of whatever their fathers desire. This is a condition that leads to a curse.  There are many examples of this. For instance, if a father is a university lecturer, the son may say in his heart, “I do not want to be a university lecturer.” If the father is a politician and the heart of the son is turned away from his father, the son may grow  up secretly deciding never to have anything to do with politics.  Similarly, the father may be a pastor in the ministry and the son will say things like, “I want to be a lawyer or an astronaut but not a pastor.” All these are as a result of the hearts of the children be...

FATHERS AND THE HIGHEST KIND OF BLESSING

FATHERS AND THE HIGHEST KIND OF BLESSING Scripture: Ephesians 6:1-3 Topic: Fathers And The Highest Kind Of Blessing "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.  Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with  promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long  on the earth." Ephesians 6:1-3 One of the highest blessings is that  it may be well with you. Who would not like it to be well with him?  However, it will never be well with you if you are disobedient to  your father!  The greatest blessing for sons is  hidden in their obedience to their fathers. There is something I have noticed in large families with five or more children.  The sons or daughters who are very  obedient to their parents turn out differently from those who are  rebellious, independent and resistant. It is a pattern you will  discover for yourself. One pastor told me how she had noticed  this phenomeno...

LABOUR TO BECOME A BLESSING

LABOUR TO BECOME A BLESSING Scripture: Proverbs 23:4 Topic: Labour To Become A Blessing "Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom." Proverbs 23:4 Instead of labouring to be rich, you must labour to become a blessing to others.  Instead of striving for wealth, strive to become a blessing. Why work with all your heart to get money, when you can work with all your heart to help others. It is time for you to decide to become a blessing to many people.  It is far greater to become a blessing than just to be a blessed person!   Your ultimate vision for life must be to labour to be a blessing. Beyond a certain amount of income there is no benefit to the receiver.  Beyond a certain number of houses you can no longer safely control what you have.   I would like to be like Abraham who became a blessing to the whole world. God said to Abraham, “All nations will be blessed through you” (Genesis 12:3) .  This is how God called Abraham. He called Abra...

COVETOUSNESS

COVETOUSNESS Scripture: 2 Peter 2:3 Topic: Covetousness “And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make  merchandise of you…” 2 Peter 2:3 The dictionary defines covetousness as something “marked by inordinate desire for wealth or possessions or for another’s possessions, having a craving for possession”. Today the mark of being a man of God is the  gathering of material possessions, the exotic cars and big houses. I am in no way suggesting that having any of these things is evil, far from the truth. The scripture is talking about the inordinate affection for such  things, the craving for these things which possibly even drive some to do what they should not do in order to possess such material things. The Bible is completely against having this craving for material things! Many live  out half of their lives forsaking God, while pursuing worldly good to their own hurts. They wake up too late to realize Solomon was right when he said: “I the Preacher was k...

UNFEIGNED FAITH IS FEARFUL

UNFEIGNED FAITH IS FEARFUL Scripture: Romans 3:11-18 Topic: Unfeigned Faith Is Fearful “There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.  They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable;  there is none that doeth good, no, not one.  Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used  deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:  Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:  Their feet are swift to shed blood:  Destruction and misery are in their ways:  And the way of peace have they not known:  There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Romans 3:11-18 Persons who do not fear God have never ever repented. In Romans 3:18 , the unrepentant are spoken of as having no fear of God. There is the fear of man, and then there is the fear of God. Too much fear of man veering far off into a certain extent produces snares: “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust ...

BECOME A MASTER OF RADICAL CHANGE

Become a Master Of Radical Change “But we all are changed into the same image …….”                                                                                                                                       2 Corinthians 3:18 SERPENTS ARE WISE BECAUSE OF THEIR ABILITY TO SHED THEIR SKIN Snakes grow quickly and most of them can kill from the day they are born!  Imagine that!   Snakes are able to be independent from birth. Snakes normally shed their skin to allow for growth.  Whenever you see the shed skin of a snake you are seeing the evidence of growth and development.  Snakes undergo this major and dramatic manoeuvre of ...

ENVY

ENVY Scripture: 1 Corinthians 3:3 Topic: Envy “For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?”                                                                                                                                             1 Corinthians 3:3   The scripture makes us to understand that wherever there is carnality there is envy. Envy therefore is the product of carnality. Carnality is the birthplace of envy.    “For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying…”                   ...

INGREDIENTS OF REPENTANCE

INGREDIENTS OF REPENTANCE Scripture: James 2:17-24  Topic: Ingredients of repentance “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.”                                           ...

BE ZEALOUS THEREFORE AND REPENT

BE ZEALOUS THEREFORE AND REPENT  Scripture: Revelation 3:19 Topic: Be Zealous therefore and repent “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”                                                                                                                                               Revelation 3:19   Just as Jesus found in the temple those that sold oxen, sheep and doves, and the table of the moneychangers, today He also finds probably worse things in His Body. Through laxity, coldness and religiosity, we have sneaked into the church money, prosperity, wealth creations and traditions. The zeal i...

CHASING FANTASIES

CHASING FANTASIES Scripture: Proverbs 28:19 Topic: Chasing Fantasies “He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.”                                                                                                                                       Proverbs 28:19 (NIV) This verse tells us that if a man has a piece of land right before him,and works on it or makes use of it, he will have more than enough food to eat. But if this man rather chases after what he imagines he can get from somewhere else, then he will be poor forever! For this man, the difference between abundance and poverty will ...
