BARRIERS TO CATCHING THE ANOINTING
Scripture: Mark 6: 1-5
Topic: Barriers to catching the anointing
Some people never seem to catch the anointing. They may be
near anointed men of God, but they just never seem to tap into that glorious
anointing. There are certain reasons why certain people never become anointed.
When Jesus was on earth with us, He ministered under the
power of the Holy Spirit. Somehow, there were some people who could not receive
from Him. They are cut off from the anointing by what I call ‘human barriers’
to the anointing.
“Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his relatives, and in his own house.” Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them."
Mark 6: 1-5
In this scripture, you will notice that Jesus was not well
received. He was made incapable of performing miracles! The anointing could not
flow from Him to others. He could not heal people, and people could not receive
from Him. Some people cannot receive from some men of God. It is a universal
problem that exists in an even greater dimension today. The gift of God walks
about in our midst and we do not benefit from it!
Why were people unable to receive? Why could the anointing
not flow into their lives?
There are several barriers preventing anointing. These
barriers are often natural features and characteristics of the man of God. Any
of these features could present a barrier that could keep you away from the anointing.
The names, sex, tribe, and nationality of a person often present
themselves as barriers to the anointing. Some people cannot receive from a man of God
because of his family background. Just the mention of his family name puts them
off. Another group cannot receive from a woman and yet another group cannot receive
from people of a certain tribe. There are Christians who cannot receive from
people of other nationalities.
One of the commonest barriers to receiving the anointing is the
colour of a man’s skin. Another common barrier is the educational or family
background of a person, his qualifications, and his personal history (and
rumours!).
Fortunately or unfortunately, God had decided to use human beings
as vessels of His anointing. The human vessel will definitely have a background
of some sort! This background may not be what you are used to. It may not be
what you want! You may not like the tribe or family to which he belongs. You
may not like the color of his skin. But God will still use that human vessel.
You see, God has many vessels and he uses whichever he wants
“ But in a great house, there are not only vessels of gold and of
silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour and some to dishonor”
2 Timothy 2:20
What barrier has prevented you from accessing the anointing?
Lord grant me the wisdom to recognize and receive Your anointed.
ReplyDeleteGod uses human beings as vessels of His anointing. May I receive the anointed well so that I receive his anointing.
