THE POWER OF BEING THANKFUL - PART 11
Scripture : 1 Thessalonians 5:12(NASB)
Topic : Be thankful to God’s servants who are sent to you.
"But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction,.."
1 Thessalonians 5:12 (NASB)
It is important to be thankful for the servants of God. It is very easy to become ungrateful and discontented with the servants that God has sent to you. When Moses was leading the children of Israel, they became discontented and began to speak many evil things about him. Instead of being thankful that God had sent one of the greatest prophets to lead them, they were filled with evil spirits and grumbled continually against the servants of God. As you develop the spirit of thankfulness, learn to be appreciative of God’s servants. God’s servants are God’s gift to you.
When God wants to be kind to you, He will send you a man of God. “…And he gave gifts unto men: Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.”(Ephesians 4:11) These men are your gifts. They are an expression of God’s love to you. When you are discontented, disgruntled and angry at His gift for you, you can imagine how God feels.
Can you imagine how God feels when you insult Him for the very people that He sends to love you? How would you feel if you bought a very expensive present and sent it to a friend and they insulted you for it? How would you feel if you bought a very expensive present and sent it to a friend and they sent it back to you? Would you not feel that they do not really love you? Would you not feel that they have not been nice to you?
