In this Quiet-time
series, we shall study the various characteristics of humility as exhibited by
children. The Word of God encourages us to be as “little ones” to inherit the
kingdom of God; denoting humility and sincere obedience in our pursuit of our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and our relationship with our brethren.
Scripture: Proverbs 13: 10
“Only by PRIDE cometh
contention…..”
Proverbs 13: 10
4. When you are humble as a child, you copy
things easily. When you lose this humility, you do not want to copy, even if it
is a good thing.
Scripture: Proverbs 13: 10
“Only by PRIDE cometh
contention…..”
Proverbs 13: 10
There are many
methods of learning. Copying is the divine method given to children to make
them surge forward and catch up with adults. Children copy easily and that is
why they can learn languages easily. Grown-ups are filled with pride and are
unable to copy something successful from their neighbor. It takes great
humility to copy someone.
Here are the
words of the proud one who cannot and will not copy. He says: ‘I want to be an
original! I am not a copy of anyone! I didn’t copy what I know! I learnt it by
myself! I am an original! God revealed it to me Himself from heaven! How nice
it sounds to say that everything about you is original……when you are too big to
copy you will stay down.
So what about
you? When will you start copying good things that can help you surge forward
and catch up with those who have left you far behind? When shall you lay your
pride aside and be like a child again?
