THE HUMILITY OF A CHILD (PART 3)

In this Quiet-time series, we shall study the various characteristics of humility as exhibited by children. The Word of God encourages us to be as “little ones” to inherit the kingdom of God; denoting humility and sincere obedience in our pursuit of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and our relationship with our brethren.

Scripture: Proverbs 13: 10

“Only by PRIDE cometh contention…..”

Proverbs 13: 10

 3. When you are humble as a child, you easily learn new things. When you lose this humility, you do not easily learn anything new.

Scripture: Proverbs 13: 10

“Only by PRIDE cometh contention…..”

Proverbs 13: 10

Learning new things is another sign that you still have some humility around you. When you become proud, you are unable to read books and learn the new things God wants to bring us into.

..the real problem is not that you cannot learn new things, but that pride has taken away your childlikeness and is preventing you from learning anything new. Unfortunately, God often brings new things for us to learn through the vessels we least expect.

It may be someone from a different country, different tribe or different colour. He may have a funny accent or may be too young for you to receive from him. He may be someone you consider inferior. Because of all these biases, you are forced to stop learning and remain the size you reached while you were humble… Humility would have helped you become a better version of yourself by constantly adding new information and, resultant higher levels.

Pride keeps you in a state of a permanent fall!

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall

Proverbs 16: 18
