THE SWEET INFLUENCES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ON YOUR MINISTRY STYLE
Scripture: Luke 1: 17
Topic: The sweet influences of the Holy Spirit on your
ministry style
In this series of our Quiet
Time, we shall study the influences of the anointing, which is the Holy Spirit,
in the life of a Christian. The Holy Spirit can influence and transform all
areas of a believer’s life and is vital for the survival of the believer on
this earth
“ He will also go before Him in the spirit and
power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just,
to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
Luke
1: 17(NKJV)
This is a prophecy given to Zechariah, the father of John
the Baptist, about his son. In this prophecy, it was clear that he was to have
a son who would walk under the same influence of the spirit that Elijah did. The
prophecy was direct! The little boy would be influenced by the same spirit and the
same power that influenced Elijah. After John the Baptist began the ministry, many
came to him and received a blessing. But it was Jesus who pointed out that John
the Baptist was walking under the same influence of the Holy Spirit as Elijah.
He said to His disciples, “ And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was
for to come” (Matthew 11:14)
It was clear that John the Baptist was flowing in a special
anointing. That anointing of the Holy Spirit on Elijah was the same as that on
John the Baptist. What did this anointing do? What did this special influence
of the Holy Spirit do? It gave birth to a similar style in ministry! Amazingly,
the similarities in the style of ministry are carefully described in the Scriptures.
Notice, and do not be surprised, if the Holy Spirit gives
you a ministry that is similar to someone else’s. Do not listen to fruitless
trees that criticize you for copying. These empty clouds have achieved nothing
and are constantly frightening up-and-coming ministers from learning all they
can from mentors and fathers. Go ahead and learn all you can! If God gives you
a similar style to someone you love, then accept it and flow in it! You may be
surprised that you are the John the Baptist who is walking in the footsteps of Elijah!
Once something is carefully chronicled in the bible, you must not be afraid of
it. What you must be afraid of are the things that are not in the Bible. Do not
be afraid of developing the style of the ministry of the wonderful men whom God
has raised up in front of you.
