In this series of our Quiet Time, we shall study the influences of the anointing, which is the Holy Spirit, in the life of a Christian. The Holy Spirit can influence and transform all areas of a believer’s life and is vital for the survival of the believer on this earth

“  And hope maketh not ashamed; because THE LOVE OF GOD IS SHED abroad in our hearts BY THE HOLY GHOST which is given unto us”

Romans 5: 5

The key signs of your inability to love is your broken relationships and friendships that should have been lifelong relationships! Most of the relationships God gives you are to last a lifetime. Because of your inability to walk in love, many of your relationships do not last very long.

The sweet influences of the Holy Spirit imparts a supernatural ability to walk in love and to forgive. Even though you are born again, the flesh is still the same. Without the help of the Holy Spirit, you will not be able to walk in love and you will not be able to genuinely forgive. There are many ministers who claim to be heavily anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit and yet cannot walk in the love of God.

Making people fall down and having mighty spiritual manifestations Is not the same as walking in love. Walking in love is a cardinal sign of the presence of the Spirit.

I remember a long-standing pastor who was so offended that he could continue to be a member of the church. The effect of his hurt was almost palpable as he seethed with rage and offense. No one could speak to him, no one could counsel him and no one could make him see reason. It is such people that make me understand how someone who hates his brother is a murderer. You can virtually see murder in the eyes of some pastors.

Everyone says, “I have forgiven him and I do not have any grudge against anyone”. But they do, and it shows in their lives and in their actions you cannot make a claim to the presence of the Holy Spirit if you cannot walk in divine love and forgiveness.

This is where we need the Holy Spirit. There is a great love that comes into your life from the Holy Spirit. It is called the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30). The Holy Spirit pours love into your heart and enables you to practice it. Pray for the Holy Spirit to come into your life. Supernaturally, you will be able to love even the most unlovable and unforgivable human being. It is called the love of the Spirit.

“ Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christs’s sake, and for the LOVE OF THE SPIRIT, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me”

Romans 15:30

When you go close to men who walk in the Holy Spirit you often find love. Often, you will not be impressed by great truths they stand for out by the great love they seem to have. Love is best enjoyed at close range. As you get closer to men who are under a real anointing, you start to experience the great love they have for God and for men.

Pray for the Holy Spirit. Expect God to give you the power to love and to forgive. It is a key sign of the presence of the Holy Spirit’s work in your life and ministry.
