STRANGE HAPPENINGS IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD - PART 4

STRANGE HAPPENINGS IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD
Scripture: 1 Samuel 7:1-2
Topic : Strange Happenings in the Presence of God - Part 4

Wherever the presence of God is, there are manifestations. In this Series of our Quiet Time we will explore some of the strange happenings in the Presence of God.

 4. Calmness to all who respect God’s presence.

"And the men of Kirjath-jearim came, and fetched up the ark of the Lord, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the Lord. And IT CAME TO PASS, WHILE THE ARK ABODE IN KIRJATH-JEARIM, THAT THE TIME WAS LONG; FOR IT WAS TWENTY YEARS: and all the house of Israel lamented after the Lord."
1 Samuel 7:1-2

The presence of God in the house of Abinadab was uneventful. This is the mystery of His presence. In His presence, there may be no physical action or reaction. It is this mysterious silence from God’s presence that deceives human beings into thinking that there is no God. When Jesus died on the cross, there seemed to be no response from heaven. God allowed men to do whatever they wanted to the Son of God.

As the wickedness of men was revealed, God was silent and watched on as human beings played out the very worst of themselves. By the time Jesus died on the cross, the worst characteristics of humankind had been played out. There was no more denying that man was evil. There were no more excuses as to the wretchedness of human beings.

If anyone had asked the Pharisees whether they would crucify a prophet, they would have said, “Not at all!” But when a great prophet did come, all they did was to crucify Him. Why was there no reaction from heaven? It was for the same reason that the stay of the ark of God in the house of Abinadab was uneventful.
