STRANGE HAPPENINGS IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD
Scriptures: Exodus 13:21, 1 Samuel 5:1-7, 11-12
Topic: Strange Happenings in the Presence of God -Part 1

"And THE LORD WENT BEFORE THEM BY DAY IN A PILLAR OF A CLOUD, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:" 
Exodus 13:21

The ark of God was a physical manifestation of God’s presence.  There was a time in which God’s presence was strongly manifested through the ark. Wherever the ark was, God was there.  Wherever the presence of God is, there are manifestations.  There will be a wide variety of manifestations of the presence of God in your life and ministry from now onwards.  

1. Death to all the mockers of God’s presence. 

"And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Eben-ezer unto Ashdod. WHEN THE PHILISTINES TOOK THE ARK OF GOD, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again. And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord ; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him. Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon’s house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day. But THE HAND OF THE LORD WAS HEAVY UPON THEM OF ASHDOD, AND HE DESTROYED THEM, AND SMOTE THEM WITH EMERODS, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof. And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god. . . So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for THERE WAS A DEADLY DESTRUCTION THROUGHOUT ALL THE CITY; the hand of God was very heavy there. And the men that died not were smitten with the emerods: and the cry of the city went up to heaven."
1 Samuel 5:1-7, 11-12

The presence of God, in the form of the Ark of the Covenant, caused death to the enemies of God.  Over and over, we see that the presence of God in a minister’s life brings judgment to those who mock God’s servants.  The Philistines discovered this first-hand.  They carried the ark of God into their camp and were plagued with diseases and death.  They recognized that they had toyed with the presence of God and were paying dearly for it.  

Not every man of God carries the presence of God in a certain way. However, some of God’s servants do carry the presence of God with them. It is important not to toy with such servants of God. You can be struck with diseases and death because you took the presence of God for granted. You must be quick to recognize those who carry a strong presence of God and avoid making mistakes in relation to them.  A mistake could cost you dearly.
