THE DANGERS OF SELF-CENTEREDNESS AND SELF-PROMOTION 
Scriptures: Isaiah 14:12-15, Ezekiel 31:10
Topic: The Dangers of Self-Centeredness and Self Promotion - Part 1

In this series of our Quiet Time we we study the dangers of Self-Centeredness and Self Promotion. It is time to stop focusing on "self" and start focusing on "others" 

1. Self-promotion caused the fall of Lucifer.

"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!  How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I WILL EXALT my throne above the stars of God: I WILL SIT also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I WILL ASCEND above the heights of the clouds; I WILL BE LIKE the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."
Isaiah 14:12-15

"Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; because thou hast LIFTED UP THYSELF in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;" 
Ezekiel 31:10

You can choose to promote yourself or to promote others.  Self-promotion is the deadly sin of satan!  Satan exalted himself instead of exalting God and was cast down as a withered branch.  From the moment he was cast down, he has been inspiring multitudes to do the same things that led to his destruction.   

Satan said, “I will exalt!  I will ascend!  I will sit!  I will be like the most high!”  He constantly used the word “I” and sought to exalt himself.  This was the cause of the fall of Lucifer.  Will it be the cause of your fall as well?  Thinking only about yourself and not helping others will lead to your downfall.

    Thinking only about yourself is a self promotion. He constantly used the word "l" and sought to exalt himself.

    Lord help me to humble myself and think about others. May I never fall into this trap of self promotion.
