THE HONOUR AND THE ANOINTING

 The Honour and the Anointing
Scripture: Mark 6: 1-5
Topic: The Honour and The Anointing

We shall in this quiet time begin a series in which we see clearly the relationship between honour and the anointing. I trust the Lord that point by point you will come to the place of honour, and enjoy the fruit of honour.
1.Where the anointing is not honoured it does not work
“And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.  And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? And what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A PROPHET IS NOT WITHOUT HONOUR, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.  And HE COULD THERE DO NO MIGHTY WORK, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them”
                                                                                                                                                      Mark 6:1-5
Where the anointing is not honoured, it does not work.  Many men of God walk around, having great gifts to impart. Unfortunately, the anointing on their lives is not imparted to anyone and the power of God seems to not work the way it should.  This is nothing strange. It happened in the life and ministry of Jesus. When he went to His hometown he was not honoured.  Instead, he was despised, ridiculed, questioned, interrogated! He was accused.  He was challenged. His background was investigated. His family history was dug up and His message was not even listened to.
Jesus was heavily anointed.  He was so anointed that He could raise the dead, cleanse lepers, walk on the water, rebuke storms and speak great prophecies.  But the anointing simply did not work in Nazareth where He was not honoured.  There is no anointed person who can function properly where he is not honoured.  There is no group of people who will truly benefit from the anointed servant of God if they do not honour him.  This is why some pastors seem to have a greater impact outside their own churches than within their own churches. This is because they are honoured, respected and received as a very great person outside their home church circles.

I know a famous healing evangelist who is greatly admired outside his own country. He is a hero to many.  Entire cities will gather to hear him. But in his own country, where he is not honoured, he will struggle to have two thousand people listening to him.  This is also why the devil tries so hard to discredit servants of God.  Satan is trying to take away their honour. He knows that the anointing of the man of God will not work where he is not honoured.

  1. Our prosperity from the anointing depends on how much we honour the anointed.God help us.

  2. The anointing of the man of God will not work where he is not honoured. "And HE COULD THERE DO NO MIGHTY WORK, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them". Mark 6:1-5. Everywhere Jesus went, he performed miracles and many were healed and restored yet in His own country He couldn't do much. Honour is a master key to the release of power, and the release of the anointing in one’s life. It is imperative to recognize and identify those with authority in your life and accord them the honor, respect and reverence due them.

  6. Honour makes it possible for the anointing to work for you. Don't see the servant of God as your colleague, workmate, neighbour, friend or just another person, rather receive him as the anointed vessel of God and the anointing will work for you

  7. What a powerful secret! Without honour you'll be around a great anointng but it won't work for you if you don't honour the vessel who carries the anointing. Lord help me to truly honour and greatly tap from your anointed

  8. May God help me to honour his anointed vessel
