DIVISION IS THE PROOF OF CARNALITY PART 2

DIVISION IS THE PROOF OF CARNALITY PART 2
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 3:3
TOPIC: Division is the Proof of Carnality Part 2

“For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?”
                                                                                                                                     1 Corinthians 3:3

One of the last prayers of Jesus for His disciples and for those to come after the disciples to the Father was that they might be one, not divided. Jesus and the Father are one, He therefore desired for the disciples to also be one in them.

“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”
                                                                                                                                          John 17:20-21

This prayer was answered in the New Testament church in an amazing way. The bible says;

“And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.”
                                                                                                                                                   Acts 4:32

It is time for the church to root out all forms of division. It is time for the church to fight to be united in Christ. We must do this of ail. We must accomplish this or be consumed by one another.

“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.”
                                                                                                                                    Galatians 5:14-15

If we do not fight to love one another, but we choose to bite and devour one another, be warned; the end result is the consummation of ourselves by one another.

“Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:”

                                                                                                                                                      1 Peter 3:8

Clearly, all pastors of the first century church fought for the members to be united and in love one with another. Today leaders barely bother with the unity in the Body. We do not care who dislikes who, we are not perturbed about who disdains another. Yet you see throughout the scriptures how all these first century pastors and apostles fought for the Body to be united and live in love.

“Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;”
                                                                                                                                     Philippians 1:27

The church must not apologize in this fight to root out those who bring contention; there is mischief in their hearts. They only gather for war, to leave them to the mischief is their heart is to continually have war and division in the church.

“Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.”
                                                                                                                                            Psalm 140:2
