THERE IS NONE THAT SEEKETH AFTER GOD

THERE IS NONE THAT SEEKETH AFTER GOD
Scripture: Romans 3:10-11
Topic: There is None That Seeketh After God

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.”

                                                                                                                                               Romans 3:10-11

God brings against man about fourteen indictments in this chapter of Romans, and in the first of the fourteen indictments, God described man by saying that not one is righteous in verse 10 of Romans 3. This verse summarizes all that follows. Only in Christ are we found righteous, outside of Him, we are nothing but filthy rags before God. I have ever heard unbelievers claim how that they are even better than church going people whenever Believers are found wanting in one area or another. Well the truth is that is a lie! An emphatic lie! If those who are

“ But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. 7. And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.”
                                                                                                                                                  Isaiah 64:6-7

He goes into the second indictment against man by saying that there is none that understands according to verse 11a. Most people discuss religion and provide their opinion, while never having read the Bible. This is not possible in other sciences. Sin has incapacitated mankind from being able to make spiritual and good moral judgments. A person can be an accomplished scientist or a profound scholar, but without the Spirit of wisdom that comes with regeneration, he cannot spiritually discern things pertaining to God.

“But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.”

                                                                                                                                          1 Corinthians 2:14

Many church members are devoid of moral and spiritual understanding. There are those who see no harm indulging in this or that which they desire to try and do and do not suffer from any sense of guilt, oblivious to that fact that it is a demonstration of the symptom of an evil conscience. The Bible instructs us to shun all appearance of evil. Many attempt to see how near the road of sin they can go. Where is the borderline? No true husband would ask how he might give the minimum of affection and fidelity to his wife and the way he may have the most of liberty. It is not the language of a Christian. Christians cannot serve the Lord and be continually hunting the border- line. nobody can understand Biblical things and make Biblical judgments aside from grace and a knowledge of Holy Scripture.

God’s third indictment is that there is none that seeks after God in verse 11b. The claim that wherever one goes people are seeking the Lord is erroneous. One in earnest about seeking the Lord has already been given the urge to pursue Him. We seek Him because we have first been sought and located by God.

“God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there is anyone who understands, Who seeks after God. Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one.”

                                                                                                                                    Psalms 53:2-3 NASB

Our generation has lost the zest to seek hard after God, to follow hard after Him. As the days go by Christians are finding it more difficult to seek God. Many things are stealing the attention of Christians, derailing them from seeking God. Will you be counted amongst those who do not seek God?
