LIVING AND DYING AS ONE BELONGING TO THE LORD

LIVING AND DYING AS ONE BELONGING TO THE LORD
Scripture: Romans 14: 7-9
Topic: Living and Dying as One Belonging to The Lord

“For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.”

                                                                                                                                               Romans 14:7-9
There is no sphere of our lives to which we can lay claim if we are believers. Our living, and dying which covers the two expanse of our existence both belong to the Lord. The Christian who lives for himself is yet to be saved from his sins. No truly saved believer owns the times of his existence here on earth or in the next. Salvation is unto a lifestyle determined by the Lord Jesus Christ.

“And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”

                                                                                                                                          2 Corinthians 5:15

The text above reveals an important reason for the death of Christ, it is that we who live should henceforth not live unto ourselves. Glory to God! We must live for the one who died for us! Indeed, many Christians live everyday oblivious to this very important command. What do we live for? Who do we live for? There are Christians whose entire existence has absolutely nothing to do with Christ. Some live for husbands, wives, children, friends, careers, and family to name but a few. Christ is often an afterthought in all they do. Christ is remembered on Sundays, monthly services, annual Christian occasions you name them.

“For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.”

                                                                                                                                                Galatians 2:19

Paul the apostle died to the law that he might live unto God. If we have died to the rudiments of this world, for whom do you live daily? the word is daily! Is Christ an occasional thought you entertain? Or is He at the forefront of your mind, heart, soul, and spirit every second, minute, hour, daily, weekly and all throughout your existence? Beloved we are commanded to live for Christ, not occasionally but always!
