DO NOT ENVY THE PROSPERITY OF THE WICKED
DO NOT ENVY THE PROSPERITY OF THE WICKED
Scripture: Psalm 73: 1- 3
Topic: Do Not Envy the Prosperity of The Wicked
“Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.”
Psalms 73:1-3
Indeed, that God is good is an understatement, when we see all that, He has wrought in our lives. Many Christians take for granted how good God has been to then. The Psalmist was declaring unequivocally that God is good to Israel. The Psalmist recognised that God is good to people that are of a clean heart. Is your heart clean? Could it be that you are yet to experience the goodness of God in your life because your heart is not clean? A clean heart attracts the goodness of God. King David prayed for God to create in him a clean heart:
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
Psalms 51:10
The feet of many believers are almost slipping, we are losing the church to the prosperity of the wicked. We have today many Christians nigh slipping away from the Faith due to their admiration for the prosperity of the wicked. Whenever you see believers who once upon a time were fervent, strong, and staunch in the faith becoming unbelieving and abandoning the Faith, you will clearly observe their admiration for the world and the things of the world.
“For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.”
2 Timothy 4:10
Is it possible that you are no more fervent because of the alluring hold of the world over your heart? The Psalmist was almost gone out of God, out of His Presence and was nigh slipping because he began to envy the foolish. Today Christians are busy envying the foolish. They wish they were on tik tok fooling like the rest of the world. They wish they were on Instagram dressed lewdly, and exposing the nakedness of their bodies. To envy the foolish is a tragedy for any believer. I am happy where I am; in Christ Jesus! I do not need to be a tik tok star to be happy, nor find fame by behaving like a fool. How do you feel when you see the prosperity of the wicked? Are you wowed by it? Do you often feel like that could be you? Is that the reason you are now bent on becoming a politician? A comedian? A fashionista? A worldly accomplished person? Beloved do not allow the prosperity of the wicked to drive you away from God.
Amen, thank you for this word today,Lord help me not to allow the prosperity of the wicked drive me away from you. Holy Spirit give me a clean heart that I may experience the goodness of God

ReplyDeleteIndeed it's foolishness to envy the prosperity of the wicked for the blessing of the Lord maketh rich and adds no sorrow to it. May I never be distracted from labouring for the blessing. Father thank You for Your faithfulness and all You've blessed me with. Create in me a clean and thankful heart that is free from envy and fully trusts You.
